Pick #1 – Houston Rockets at Milwaukee Bucks​

While the nearly last place Milwaukee Bucks would need a miracle to make the playoffs the currently 8th seeded Houston Rockets are fighting with everything they got just to stay in the race. While the Bucks start to fade away from 2015-2016 NBA memory and currently have a 3-7 record over there last 10 games the Rockets are starting to make things interesting and have gone a solid 7-3 record over that same span of games. Both teams certainly have some serious offensive power on any given night and Houston (29-30) and Milwaukee (24-35) should give us that up and down game we expect here from a hungry Rockets team. The Rockets and Both have both been off a little defensively lately giving this game a great chance to see some serious offensive production. Checking these two teams last 10 face offs the over/under is dead even at 5-5 but we have to like to over side as both teams are increasing offensive focus. As one team develops young talent and looks to next year another gears up a wiley group of veterans for yet another major playoff push.. Here we see two playoff bound teams collide for what should be an electric matchup. As confirming of a side these opening numbers seem to suggest it gets so much more enticing once we take a more in depth look into the data. Pick #1 – Golden State Warriors at Portland Trailblazers​

Tonight is the first big game set as we return from the NBA All-Star break so it will be exciting to see how all the players and teams perform in the second half especially given the recent trades and changes. This year teams have had no choice but to play the Warriors insanely fast paced and high scoring level of basketball so the Trailblazers should be prepared to come out in the second half of the season really running and gunning. Golden State has a 18-10 over/under record on the road while Portland has a 14-13 home NBA total over/under which makes for the perfect start to the creation of a high scoring basketball game. As promising as the opening stats seem to be it gets so much better when we start to dig deeper into the data and numbers. The lakers this year have been known for a faster style of basketball and Cleveland seems to have joined the speedy play train as of late so this game should see a significant amount of offense and quick guard play. Cleveland has a 14-11 over/under record at home while Los Angeles has a 15-14-1 away total over/under which makes for the perfect convergence for a high scoring basketball game. The 208.3 is an enticing number here as the lack of defense should get easily to the over in this game. Its a tough call on this one as I expect this to be a very defensive game. The eyeball test says go with Carolina, but the smart money and the history both say take the points and go with Denver.

When I break it down I think the match up does slightly favor Carolina. They have the better run game with Stewart healthy, I also expect them to heavily rely on Olsen as a safety valve for Cam.

The wild card will be special teams, If Denver can get a couple special teams plays early that could flip the script here and put Carolina behind.

I expect that Josh Norman will be on Thomas, so Sanders will be the open receiver for Manning, which means that he is only big threat on offense for big plays...

Overall i think this will be a close game, so I am going to take a 2 leg 6 point teaser here.

Pick #1 – Chicago Bulls at Denver Nuggets

Both these teams are playing mediocre basketball each sporting an identical losing record of 4-6 over the last 10 games. While the Nuggets (19-31) probably have little hope for the playoffs the Bulls (27-21) can make a run and need to start stepping it up quickly. Chicago is dealing with a plethora of injuries to the likes of such key players as Jimmy Butler (knee) Pau Gasol (hand) Nikola Mirotic (appendix) and Joakim Noah (shoulder) so it will be interesting to see how they handle even some of the lesser talented teams in the league going forward. As the Bulls are seeing a lot of injuries down low they are starting to play a more uptempo pace of basketball while Denver has been running and gunning all year. Chicago also has a 15-8 away over/under record while the Nuggets have a 16-8-1 home total over/under record seemingly making this the perfect storm of fast paced basketball. As eye opening as all of the previous data is here is where the numbers start to look extremely appealing. First off the the over/ under total has gone over in 18 of Chicago's last 25 games and has gone over in 10 of Bull's last 12 games on the road. Now these types of lopsided numbers are hard to ignore but it gets even better. In addition to the above highly convincing stats the total has gone over in 8 of Denver's last 12 games as well as going over in 6 of Denver's last 8 games at home. These trends are pretty incredible when you process it. Looking at the offensive and defensive averages of both teams over there last 10 games they merge to equal scores of 203.4 points while giving up 207.8 points. The 207.8 is a key number here as that points allowance gets us easily over where we need to go in this game. One of the most important positive signs we are seeing withing this pick is that it opened at 204.5 and has been doing nothing but nudging up. Its clear where the people that want to make money are taking this NBA over/under total line and that is straight to the over bank. I think the trends are hard to ignore here and this over simply looks too juicy too pass up. With the Nuggets healthy and Bulls wounded and needing to cover by +1.5 we have to think this will be one high flying game.
