Pick #1 – Los Angeles Lakers at Milwaukee Bucks
The Kobe world tour continues and here it lands us in Milwaukee. A tale of two struggling teams probably starting to already look to next year the Bucks have a 4-6 record over there last 10 games while the Lakers showcase and even worse 2-8 record for the same stretch of games. Even though both teams are not playing at a high level with Milwaukee (23-33) and Los Angeles (11-46) falling off the radar quickly each team is developing young talent that wants to excel. Neither team is facing any a plethora pof injuries (LA – Anthony Brown) (Milwaukee - Jerryd Bayless, John Henson, Greivis Vasquez) so both teams are relatively healthy coming back from the NBA All Star Break. Lakers and Bucks have been playing some pretty lackluster defense this year while both having respectable offensive talents so this one should see some scoring. Lakers have a 17-14-1 over/under record on the road this year while the Bucks have a 15-9 home NBA total over/under record so this one has all the makings of an up and down game with lots of points. As confirming of a side these opening numbers seem to suggest it gets so much more enticing once we take a more in depth look into the data. The first “green flag” is that The total has gone OVER in 4 of LA Lakers's last 5 games. Combine this with there already strong road over/under record and were looking at some serious points here. Calculating the offensive and defensive 10 game averages for both teams come together to show offensive totals of 211.3 points while giving up on the other side of the ball 200.8 points per contest. We have to really like the joint offensive production for this pick. Lets not forget the bucks also have to win by -9 here and the Lakers have been playing some solid ball so this one could get high scoring quick. Here is where it gets really appealing as the point spread for this over/under started at 204.5 and has climbed all the way up to 210 which is one of the biggest jumps we have seen all year. One number we rarely can deny is the public spending. This game is at an unprecedented 94% consensus point and rising as we write this. The last time these two teams met the Bucks were favored by a mere -3.5 point spread and the final score was 95 – 113 so we have to think this one will easily tip the scales given both teams recent pace of play and the more then double point spread. The play here is the OVER 210 and we have to have feel confident in this play.
