Pick #1 – Golden State Warriors at Portland Trailblazers
Tonight is the first big game set as we return from the NBA All-Star break so it will be exciting to see how all the players and teams perform in the second half especially given the recent trades and changes. The NBA match up we focus on tonight is showcasing the Warriors with the a 10-0 record over there last 10 games as they continue on there quest to break the Chicago Bulls all time NBA season win record. Similarly impressive as of late, the Trailblazers are 8-2 over there last 10 games, fighting for a playoff spot and have finally gotten completely healthy which is clearly showing in there play. Even though Golden State (48-4) is the pinnacle of NBA basketball right now Portland (27-27) is starting to make a strong case for serious contender threat. Neither team is facing any serious injuries (Portland – None) (Golden State - Festus Ezeli, James Michael McAdoo) so both teams are coming back refreshed and ready to play top tier caliber basketball. This year teams have had no choice but to play the Warriors insanely fast paced and high scoring level of basketball so the Trailblazers should be prepared to come out in the second half of the season really running and gunning. Golden State has a 18-10 over/under record on the road while Portland has a 14-13 home NBA total over/under which makes for the perfect start to the creation of a high scoring basketball game. As promising as the opening stats seem to be it gets so much better when we start to dig deeper into the data and numbers. The first eye opening fact is that the total has gone OVER in 17 of Golden State's last 24 games on the road. Now that is a seriously profitable trend forming. Looking at the offensive and defensive 10 game averages for both teams combined they show offensive totals of 227.3 points while giving up defensively 202.5 points per contest. We clearly have the offensive production in our favor and with the Warriors needing to win by 8.5 points there should be a lot of baskets flying and dropping in this one. A favorite plus expected bet value indicator is ringing off the charts in this one as we have seen the opening spread for this over/under was 219 and has climbed up to 222.5 and who knows where it will stop. The cash is flowing and the over is where the collection bank is forming. This selection is the only game on the board today hitting the 70% consensus point and holding for some time now giving us a great lean towards where the outcome of this over pick should land. The last time these two teams met Golden State was favored by an almost identical -9 point spread and the final score was 128 – 108 and we should see similar results tonight as this last game was only a month and half ago. The play here is the OVER 222.5 and we have to feel pretty confident taking this side.
