Pick #1 – New Orleans Hornets at Boston Celtics
A game that matters little to both teams we can expect non inspired performances. As the Boston Celtics head into the playoff holding a recent 6-4 record over 10 games the New Orleans Hornets are already looking to next year as evidenced by there 4-6 current 10 matchup stretch. The Boston Celtics (45-33) and the New Orleans Hornets (53-22) have no real reason to perform optimally tonight so we can expect a game filled with unfocused play. Furhter highlighting this point is the fact that the Hornets come into this game with a plethora of star injuries that include Ryan Anderson (groin), Norris Cole (back), Anthony Davis (knee), Bryce Dejean-Jones (wrist), Tyreke Evans (knee). While Evan Turner is the only Celtic that is hurt we have to think this will be more of rest game for everyone then anything. No matter what competitive route this contest chooses we still have to be ecstatic about the recent trends and favorable numbers we are reviewing. The total has gone UNDER in 6 of Boston's last 7 games. In addition to this The total has gone UNDER in 5 of New Orleans's last 5 games. As if this was not enough perspective New Orleans has an overall 11-27-1 over/under yearly record on the road so for whatever reasons it is pretty clear the Hornents come up short on the offensive end time and time again on the road giving us yet another grt reason we should hit our pick. Offensive and defensive statistics when merged over the last 10 games account for scores of 202.1 and 207.2 respectively so we have to feel extremely good about this game getting no where its mark of 207.5 total points scored. The total over/under spread for this NBA contest opened at 207.5 and has not moved much so the financial jury still may be out on this one. The Celtics have to cover a -14.5 point spread in this one so we can expect some serious defense to be played in order for that outcome to occur. The consensus for this game puts the UNDER at a 93% probabilty which is very rare to see that high and gives even more confidence in our selection. The last time these two teams squared up head to head the final results was a 111-93 Boston away win so if we get another similar result we are golden on the under. The UNDER seems to coming in more often then not as the NBA season winds down so lets take the UNDER 207.5 here for all of the reasons above and hopefully cash in on another winning ticket.
