11.  Peter King - @SI_PeterKing

Picture
    1. One of the most plugged-in sports journalists out there, King is worth a follow if only for his witty commentary on the daily happenings of the sports world. 9.  Jay Glazer - @JayGlazer

Picture
    1. If Adam Schefter has a competition with anyone when it comes to reporting breaking NFL-related news, it’s Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer. The bald man with the well-shaped goatee, has been the NFL Insider for NFL on Fox since 2004 and though he not as “on the money” as Schefter yet, he’s pretty damn close.

      2. “Whoa. RT @adamteicher Jamaal Charles is practicing with chiefs today. An interesting turn of events. Looked OK to me”

6.  Darren Rovell - @darrenrovell

Picture
    1. A lot of people don’t like Rovell because he tends to talk the economic-side of the sports, a topic many fans try to stay away from. But the man who was once the sole sports reporter for CNBC now has a much more conventional role with ESPN, and his Tweeting habits, though still laden with sports-business factoids, have gone more mainstream.

4.  Bill Simmons - @BillSimmons

3.  Michael Wilbon - @RealMikeWilbon

Picture
    1. Not the most frequent Twitter user, Michael Wilbon aims for quality rather than quantity in his Tweets. Though he’s a Chicago-first journalist when it comes to sports news, he’s not a beat writer. As the co-host of ESPN’s PTI he talks plenty of Big 4 sports headlines on social media.

    2. Followers: 1.5M

      2. “So incredibly sad to see Paul George injured like that...my first thought was of Joe Theisman's injury 30 years ago...All the best to Paul.”

2.  Adam Schefter - @AdamSchefter

Picture
    1. Adam Schefter may only cover one sport, but man does he cover the hell out of it. He’s ESPN’s go-to source for inside information and breaking news on the NFL, so you know Schefter isn’t just an average reporter. He Tweets consistently during the NFL season and absolutely dominates Twitter going into pregame on Sunday.

Picture
I am always searching for interesting people to follow on Social Media. So I created this list of the 30 Most Interesting Pro Athletes to follow on Twitter.

Enjoy and please feel free to leave your suggestions in the comments below. If we get enough suggestions I will update the list to 50.

Enjoy

#30 - Stuart Holden @stuholden

Picture
As a former member of the US Men’s National Soccer Team, Stuart Holden has key knowledge about the game of footy which is why NBC hired him to do color commentary for the MLS games. In any event, Holden runs a very lighthearted account full of great photo ops for soccer fans and spurts of observational humor.

Recent Tweets:

"Why do rental car companies give you 4 keys on the same keychain that u can't detach? Not good for my skinny jean pockets #tiiiiiiight"

"ESPN in 10 min!! “@KaralynWest: How 2 dress for a Satellite TV interview. Fashion statement http://instagram.com/p/p7lOmimh64/ ”"

#29 - JJ Watt @JJWatt

JJWatt
The heart and soul of the Houston Texans defense delivers on Twitter where followers can see all the charitable work he’s involved in. Following Watt is also a great way to better understand just how large an NFL defensive lineman really is.

#28 - Kobe Bryant @kobebryant

Picture
Kobe isn’t overly-active on Twitter but he makes his Tweets count in terms of entertainment value. He’s also one of the more eloquent professional athletes out there which makes his Tweets kind of refreshing to read.

#27 - Josh Reddick @joshreddick16

Picture
A teammate of Doolittle, Reddick is equally weird and equally fascinating. Worth following if only for scientific research into the mind of a young Major Leaguer.

Picture
Kobe isn’t overly-active on Twitter but he makes his Tweets count in terms of entertainment value. He’s also one of the more eloquent professional athletes out there which makes his Tweets kind of refreshing to read.

#24 - David Ortiz @davidortiz

Picture
It would be a lot easier to laugh at Rampage Jackson’s running Twitter commentary if he wasn’t one of the scariest men alive. We’re not laughing at you Quinton, we’re laughing with you…please don’t hurt us.

#26 - Sean Doolittle @whatwouldDOOdo

#22 - Quinton Jackson @Rampage4real

Picture
Big Papi runs a bi-lingual Twitter feed which is pretty cool for those fans interested in improving their Spanish…But seriously, the big man from Boston is a loveable Twitter user. It’s hard to explain why, he just is.

Interesting in taking some action on the NFL this year?

#23 - Larry Fitzgerald @LarryFitzgerald

Picture
Known for letting his play rather than mouth do all the talking on the field, it’s shocking to see how LOUD Fitzgerald is on Twitter. The man has nearly 2 million followers and has fired out over 20,000 Tweets since 2009.

#25 - Jonathan Quick @JonathanQuick32

Picture
Simply put, the Oakland A’s Sean Doolittle is one of the weirdest guys on a team loaded with strange, fraternity-like behavior. Doolittle’s Twitter feed is just a digitized microcosm of his daily thought process which is, well, peculiar.

Picture
Crass and somewhat combative, JQuick runs a Twitter account that’s pretty aggressive considering how calm he normally appears between the pipes.

#21 - Darnell Dockett @ddockett

Picture
Thanks to a massive knee injury, Dockett’s season ended early this year, but that only means he can be more active on Twitter, right? Fans of the Arizona Cardinals have been following their defensive tackle’s hilarious exploits for years.

#20 - Darrelle Revis @Revis24

Picture
The man known as “Revis Island” is a great follow during the NFL season when he Tweets about fellow players, exciting games and everything in between. During the off-season though…not so much.

#19 - Mike Trout @Trouty20

Picture
Trout is the most exciting player in the Major League which is a great thing because he’s not the most exciting guy on Twitter. But to his credit, Trout Tweets pretty much daily and provides great snapshots into the life of a professional athlete.

#18 - Bryce Harper @Bharper3407

Picture
Though he’s a bit of a bad-boy on the diamond, Harper’s pretty harmless on Twitter. He’s not a daily user, but when he does Tweet, he spends a solid amount of time promoting local charities and sending supportive messages directly to Nationals fans.

#17 - LeBron James @KingJames

Picture
As the most famous basketball player in the NBA right now, LeBron is worth a follow on those laurels alone. Yet he actually runs an interesting account, giving frequent shout-outs to celebrity pals, fellow players and charitable organizations.

#16 - Blake Griffin @blakegriffin32

Picture
Blake Griffin’s Twitter bio pretty much captures his Tweet-style in a few short words: “I sold 2 Chainz his second chain”. Blake Griffin is a comedian who makes his living as a professional basketball player. For people who like to laugh, his feed is an absolute must.

#15 - Rory McIlroy @McIlroyRory

Picture
Since breaking off his relationship with Caroline Wozniacki, Rory McIlroy has been on an absolute tear in the golfing world, winning tournaments—specifically majors—left and right. With all that success, it’s impressive that Rory still finds time to get Tweet to the world about golfing in the Hamptons or having lunch with former President Bill Clinton.

#14 - Novak Djokovic @DjokerNole

Picture
Novak Djokovic probably wishes he could Tweet as convincingly as he plays tennis, but sadly that’s not the case. Never the less,  he’s demonstrated admirable ability to keep his followers curious if not amused.

#13 - Terrell Suggs @untouchablejay4

Picture
One of the most entertaining players in the NFL Terrell Suggs is worth a follow just on his humor alone. The man is laugh-out-loud funny.

Recent Tweets:

"I'm really at a lost for words... RT @VineFights: When you gotta help your friend in a fight"

""Dumb shit always happen when you're doin dumb shit!" Steve Smith 89  @89stevesmith"

#12 - Aaron Rodgers @AaronRodgers12

Picture
It’s easy to think of Aaron Rodgers as a pretty boring guy—after all, he’s from a small town in California and plays football in small town in Wisconsin. But Rodgers doesn’t hesitate to share controversial opinions, musings and quality Tweets. He’s worth the follow, if only for his genuinely amusing ReTweets.

Recent Tweets:

"Don't tell @bradpaisley I lifted this song from his truck: Gone Green-Great song &my favorite color #leakingmoonshine b.i. http://bit.ly/1nPCnTc

"As mad as i may seem (and am), my wife and mother-in-law have things under control. Hell hath no fury like an angry mommy."

#11 - Shaquille O'Neal @SHAQ

Picture
Shaq played big on the court during his NBA days and he plays big on Twitter these days. The 7-foot tall basketball legend brings lovable energy and all-ages comedy to the Twittersphere.

Recent Tweets:

"Throw them claws http://instagram.com/p/sFx7gvwT2j/"

#10 - Steve Nash @SteveNash

Picture
Longtime NBA stud Steve Nash is well-known across the league for his sense of humor which naturally carries over to his Twitter handle. Nash syncs his Instagram and Twitter accounts so any time he snaps a pic partnered with a hilarious caption, all his followers can enjoy the moment.

Recent Tweets:

"Matteo insisted on this outfit for dinner. I was thinking doctor or lawyer but apparently avant-garde… http://instagram.com/p/rvaUK8A5CH/"

"Blue steel. http://instagram.com/p/rG5VPXA5H0/"

#09 - Mike Tyson @MikeTyson

Picture
One of the most controversial and beloved athelets of all time even once going to prison Mike Tyson is a fighter and a person known for many things.  From famous Hollywood movie cameos to the ALS Ice Bucket challange there is no telling what will pop up on the ex boxing champs Twitter feed next.

#08 - LeSean McCoy @CutonDime25

Picture
LeSean “Shady” McCoy loves to blow up his Twitter followers on a daily basis—since 2010 he’s blasted out more than 8,000 Tweets, an average of 5 ½ a day—but his most entertaining Tweets involve Vine posts and a penchant for self promotion.

Recent Tweets:

"Night! Dreaming of opening day at the Linc!! https://vine.co/v/MPTLPQJt90q  #Xenith #ShadyVines"

"#2000yards is a symbol of my potential. My full statement on recent workout speculation:http://bit.ly/1ujub60"

#07 - Hunter Pence @hunterpence

Picture
Pence has become somewhat of a star in San Francisco, not just for his play on the field, but also for his unorthodox behavior—including ScooterGate2014. Pence isn’t afraid of being called an oddball and openly embraces it when fans make fun of him on Twitter.

#06 - Chris Bosh @chrisbosh

Picture
Even though a great deal of Twitter attention left South Beach to move north with King James, Chris Bosh shouldn’t feel the effects since he’s been making Twitter users laugh since his days in Toronto. Though Bosh isn’t the “big kid” he used to be – his Tweets have gotten a bit more mature – he still finds time to screw around.

Recent Tweets:

“Took an elephant ride before lunch. It was awesome!! #BoshFamilyWorldTour http://instagram.com/p/qpbUyzMkRv/”

“Bout to sit and watch the #NBADraft. Can't believe I got drafted 11yrs ago. Time flies!”

#05 - Paul Bissonnette @BizNasty2point0

Picture
At this point it’s fair to say Paul Bissonnette’s Twitter career has been far more successful than his NHL one. BizNasty manages to do a much better job keeping fans entertained with his loud and occasionally obnoxious Tweets, than with his play on the ice…that’s probably why he’s currently a free agent.

Recent Tweets:

“Vegas? Give my liver a chance @NHL.”

“How about instead of writing your shitty article you do an #ALSIceBucketChallenge and I'll donate money for you @dellcam?”

#04 - Johnny Manziel @JManziel2

Picture
Nicknamed "Johnny Football", Johnny Manziel is one of Texas' most prolific passers of all time.  Drafted by the Cleveland Browns as the 22nd second pick in the first round draft the world is waiting to see what the quarterback has to offer the NFL.  If his Twitter keeps up with the brashness of his recent pre-season antics of giving his opposing teams side line the middle finger on Monday Night Footbal then of course its a must follow.

Tweets by @JManziel2

#03 - Logan Morrison @CupOfLoMo

Picture
LoMo as he’s more affectionately known got his Twitter start while playing for the Miami Marlins where he built a following based on timely pop culture references and character assassinating wit. Since then, he’s taken his talents and his handle to Seattle to play for the Mariners.

Recent Tweets:

“ ‘@RichardBaze: @CupOfLoMo, are you going to see @Steel_Panther tonight?’ If it's anything like sex panther, then hell yea!”

“Where can I get some good crab legs? I promise I'll pay!! #Criminoles #1StrikeLeft”

#02 - Alex Morgan @alexmorgan13

Picture
A world-class women’s soccer player, Alex Morgan never shies away from posting pics of her amazing bod all over Twitter which is as good as excuse as any to follow. Looks aside, Morgan’s can be pretty funny too and always tries to keep followers on their toes.

Recent Tweets:

“I've lived in so many cities I think I can officially add professional packer to my résumé.”

“I'm hungry but I'm so comfy in bed. Help.”

#01 - Floyd Mayweather @FloydMayweather

Picture
The Champ has never been one to shy away from the camera, microphone or internet, which is why he has over five million followers on Twitter.  Arrogant, brash, boisterous and flashy, “Money” Mayweather constantly pushes the buttons of friends and enemies alike. He’s also famous for posting pictures of his winning football tickets which often exceed $200,000 per game.
